Geoffrey Kondogbia named in Central African Republic squad for the first time

Geoffrey Kondogbia is set to make his international debut for Central African Republic after switching allegiances from France last month.

Injury curtailed his first opportunity to represent the country last month against Guinea, with CAR losing 1-0.

Kondogbia made five friendly appearances for France, but only a competitive cap ties a player’s international future to a certain country.

Kondogbia’s brother Evans Kondogbia also played for CAR, making five appearances.

The Valencia holding midfielder is one of 14 overseas players selected by Raoul Savoy for their AFCON Qualifying double header against group favourites Cote D’Ivoire.

CAR sit third, winning one game against Rwanada and losing one game against Guinea. Guinea sit in first, with two wins from two.
