Brighton defender Gaetan Bong has pleaded guilty after been caught going 20mph over the limit.
The right-back was caught doing 90mph in a 70mph along the A27 in his Land Rover in December of last year.
Bong’s solicitor Mark Haslam represented the footballer in court, which was told that the Cameroonian was travelling back from training. His solicitor plead guilty on his behalf.
“He was travelling back from training in the middle of the day,” said Mr Haslam. “He was driving too fast – I accept that on his behalf.”
“He offers his apologies.”
Bong was fined £667 (and costs of £171), as well as three points on his licence. Bong already has six points on his licence, after two speeding convictions in 2016.
The player joined Brighton from Wigan in August 2015.
