Tottenham’s Kenyan warrior, Victor Wanyama, has been awarded the Premier League Goal of the Month for his strike against Liverpool.
His powerful strike snatched a point for his side after a chaotic finale in the 2-2 draw at Anfield.
The goal came amidst reports that Liverpool and Manchester United were scouting the holding midfielder ahead of a summer transfer bid.
It was his 9th league goal in Spurs’ colours, and it was almost certainly his best – a thunderous hit from outside the box.
He told PremierLeague.com that it “was one of my best goals I’ve ever scored.”
“I just reacted before the Liverpool players. I thought I’d just let it go because the ball was bouncing and I didn’t want to think too much. And I just let it fly.”
Wanyama beat out fellow Africans Mario Lemina (Gabon) and Mo Salah (Egypt) to win the award.
Salah won’t be too disheartened, as he was awarded with his second Player of the Month award.
On Twitter, Wanyama stated that he was “very happy to have won the Premier League February’s Goal of the Month.”
