South Africa announce friendlies against Zambia and Zimbabwe

South Africa will face local rivals Zimbabwe and Zambia in friendlies later this month.

Bafana Bafana will take on two Southern African rivals in Zambia this March.

South Africa’s national side were due to have an AFCON qualifier against Libya on the 23rd of March, but rather they’ll play their two local rivals.

There has been no confirmed dates as the the Football Association of Zambia is yet to confirm details, but it is believed SA will play Zimbabwe on the 25th of March, in Lusaka, Zambia.

South Africa are currently promisingly placed to qualify for AFCON 2019, after beating group favourites Nigeria in their first game. After missing out on World Cup qualification, Stuart Baxter’s men will look to garner momentum in qualifying for next summer’s tournament, due to be held by Cameroon.

Whilst a squad hasn’t been announced just yet, Baxter revealed he has acquired the services of Swiss youth international Joel Untersee, strengthening his options in defence.
